Clinic Provides Teletherapy Services to Rural Schools

Trainees in our clinic were supervised by a licensed psychologist and provided free telehealth psychotherapy services to underserved students in a rural school district during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic school years. Specifically, we partnered with Buncombe County in Western NC to offer mental health therapy at no cost to students in their school system who did not have access to mental health or could not afford their copays and who were identified as having mental health needs. Given that these services needed to be conducted via telehealth and the rules allowing new psychology trainees to conduct telehealth have not yet been announced for 2024 we are waiting to determine if we can continue to offer this collaboration and service.

All fundraising efforts from this walk benefited the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.
